Pilsen
Environmental Rights and Reform Organization, an environmental justice
organization made up of local resident-volunteers, is seeking High
School applicants for it's Pilsen/Southwest Side Pollution Documentary
Fellowship Program. See here for application information. Deadline

What is it? Winners
of the Fellowship will be paid a small stipend to participate in a project to
document sources of pollution where they live or go to school on the
southwest side of Chicago (Pilsen, Mckindley Park, Bridgeport).
Students will use a medium of their choice to document the pollution
including photography, video, drawing or painting. Students will
document five local sources of pollution and add data to an on-line map
of local pollution sources PERRO will create. The project will end with
a public art opening of the fellow's work in May, 2009.
Who should apply? The Fellowship will be awarded to three high school students who live or attend school in the target area (which is 16th St. to the north, Canal St. to the east, Pershing St. to the South and Western Avenue to the west).
When is the deadline? 5PM, Monday, March 2, 2009.
When is it happening? The project runs from Saturday March 14 through Saturday May 8 and includes weekly Saturday morning meetings.
